Welcome to Madeley

 

Meetings of Madeley Parish Council are usually held at The Madeley Centre on the 1st Thursday of every month  and commence promptly at 7:00pm. However, during the current Coronavirus crisis, meetings will be held remotely via zoom and advertised on this page.The meetings are open to the public, and there is an open Session at the start of the meeting, during which any matters or concerns may be raised and brought to the attention of the Parish Council.  Everyone is welcome. Occasionally an extra ordinary meeting is called and details are posted on the web site and village noticeboards.

Meeting Dates for 2020-subject to change due to the current Covid-19 crisis.

9th January, 6th February, 5th March,2nd April, CANCELLED (Annual Meeting of the Parish  NOW SUSPENDED)  7th May, via Zoom (Annual Meeting of the Parish Council suspended to a time the Parish Council feels appropriate), 4th June (via zoom) 2nd July, 6th August, 3rd September, 1st October, 5th November, 3rd December.

The Annual Parish Meeting has been cancelled until further notice.

Extra ordinary meeting 20th March 2020 Please note this will now be held at Onneley Village Hall and there will be a resolution to exclude the public for the special reason of protecting them, councillors and staff from the spread of the Coronavirus. This accords with Government advice on social isolation. Please do not attend. All minutes and decisions will be on the web site and facebook at the earliest opportunity

Notice Under Local Government Act 1972 (Section 87(2)) VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for the Madeley Parish Council following the resignation on 5th March 2020 of Deborah Rogerson

Rule 5(2) of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006 now applies.


The rule allows TEN ELECTORS for the Parish in which the casual vacancy has arisen to request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancy[1].   That request must be made within FOURTEEN DAYS, calculated in accordance with the rules[2], of the date of this notice.  The fourteen day period ends on Monday 30th March 2020

What if a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time?

Rule 5(5) of the above Rules will apply.  The Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen day period, co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

[1] There is no form of words for this request, which might simply be a letter headed with such words as “We the undersigned being electors for the (Ward of)….Parish, call for an election to fill the vacancy arising from the (death)(resignation) of….”.  It is helpful if the ten signatures are accompanied by printed names and addresses.

[2] In calculating the notice period, day one is the day following the date of this notice; a Saturday, Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday or day appointed for public thanksgiving or mourning shall be disregarded, and the period closes at midnight on the fourteenth day after the date of this notice.  Rule 5(2) of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006 now applies.

PROPOSED CCTV IN MADELEY VILLAGE

PUBLIC OPEN MEETING.

Madeley Parish Council wishes to consult with the public to get their views about the installation of CCTV in the vicinity of Newcastle Road/New Road, Madeley.

A public meeting will be held on Thursday 4th July at 7:00pm at The Madeley Centre, New Road, where the police and Parish Council will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Cancellation of Christmas Lights Switch on & Older Persons Party 10th December

Please note that due to the forecast of heavy snowfalls the above event has been cancelled.

Offley Arms Public House-Asset of Community Value-Notice of disposal
